winners.
The Gunpowder Falls Bridge on Maryland
Route 7 in Baltimore County, Maryland was presented with the 1989
Prize Bridge Award - Short Span from the American Institute of Steel
Construction.
The Pocomoke River Bascule Bridge
on Maryland Route 675 over the Pocomoke River in Worcester County,
Maryland was presented with an award marking the rehabilitation
of the bridge with Innovative Engineering Excellence - 1990 from
the Consulting Engineers Council of Maryland.
The United States Naval
Academy Bridge on Maryland Route 450 over the scenic Severn River
in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Maryland has the distinction
of being the only bridge to win seven awards in the State of Maryland.
This bridge built in 1995 used a unique competition to come up with
the design of the structure. The awards are the 1995 Presidential
Design Award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the 1996
Prize Bridge Award - Medium Span from the National Steel Bridge
Alliance and American Institution of Steel Contractors, Inc., the
1996 Biennial Awards - Award of Merit from the Federal Highway Administration,
the 1995 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award from the
American Society of Civil Engineers, it was a national finalist
in NQI Achievement Awards 1997, was presented the Innovative Excellence
in Engineering Award from the Consulting Engineers Council and was
a National Finalist for the Engineering Excellence Award from the
American Consulting Engineers Council.
